Job Summary As the SR&ED Practice Lead, you will manage the day-to-day operations of MCN SR&ED consulting practice and maintain the growth and profitability of the business. You will own and be responsible for all aspects of MCN’s consulting engagements and achieve the highest level of customer satisfaction and retention. You will lead, hire, train and manage MCN staff and ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of all business functions, including consulting, business development, customer success, finance and others. We are looking for a self-starter with a proven track record of managing and growing a profitable and successful SR&ED consulting business or a SR&ED consulting business unit operating within a larger organization. Responsibilities Manage business operations and support all aspects of MCN SR&ED and IDMTC client engagements, ensuring customer success and retention. Manage efficiencies, attain revenue targets, and enable sustainable growth of the MCN SR&ED and IDMTC consulting practice through effective management, incorporation of best practices, devising and deploying consistent, high quality and repeatable solutions, and by growing a strong professional services team and brand. Develop, retain, and attract talent. Lead, train, and mentor staff and invest in the professional development of the MCN team. Provide leadership and coordination across all MCN SR&ED and IDMTC client engagements, including audits. Facilitate communication among team members for progress monitoring and resolving issues on an ongoing basis. Grow the business via impactful marketing and business development initiatives. Identify business prospects, lead, facilitate, and actively engage in business development activities alongside MCN sales staff. Engage, identify, and maintain relationships with clients, becoming a trusted and influential advisor. Examine clients’ and prospects’ operations, determine their eligibility for various tax credits and funding programs, and develop appropriate funding methodology to maximize tax incentives available to each client/prospect. Maintain an up-to-date understanding of the technological landscape, industry trends, and the SR&ED program, including legislation, application policies, case law, and Canada Revenue Agency administrative practices. Qualifications Minimum of 5 years of experience in managing and growing a SR&ED consulting practice. Extensive experience with the SR&ED tax credit program, including preparing and defending SR&ED claims in computer science, computer engineering, bioinformatics, and related fields. Up-to-date SR&ED knowledge including legislation, application policies, case law and Canada Revenue Agency administrative practices. Experience dealing with CxO-level stakeholders and direct customer interactions. Experience with management reporting and trend analysis. Experience in business development and excellent relationship management skills. Extensive team management experience and a demonstrated commitment to attracting, developing, and coaching talent. Excellent written and oral communication skills combined with intellectual curiosity and creative problem-solving abilities. University degree in Accounting, Computer Science, Engineering, Applied Science, or a related field. MBA or accounting designation is an asset. Compensation Attractive compensation package including base salary and variable performance-based compensation with an uncapped upside. This is a full-time engagement.
