The following is a full-time permanent opportunity with our customer: a fast-growing Engineering Consulting firm in Toronto Position: Mechanical Project Engineer The Project Engineer is a key member of the engineering team and contributes to planning, organizing and coordination of project activities from concept through detailed design to installation and start-up in accordance with the established best practices, policies and procedures of our company and our clients. This is a permanent full-time position based at our Toronto, Ontario office, which allows us to support our clients remotely or onsite. Duties and responsibilities: Function in a multi-discipline engineering environment preparing project designs, developing and integrating project schedules, scope and tender documents, cost estimates including BVOA’s and overall coordination on all project activities. Plan, coordinate and review engineering requirements and responsibility between disciplines, supplier and contractors. Work with the engineering team to produce high quality engineering drawings and documentation that will be used to develop scopes of work, client approvals, tendering and construction. Developing, maintaining and coordination all of tasks and actions related to the project and engineering related functions. This will require the project engineer to liaise between clients, project team, consultants and contractors in all facets of project planning and execution. Participate in project risk assessments, evaluation (i.e. BVOA’s) and design review sessions to identify and develop project scope, schedules and costs. Provide input into and adhere to engineering specifications, standards and procedures. Ensuring all design, construction and field modifications meet the requirements of all applicable codes, standards and regulations. Provide technical and troubleshooting support to project team, suppliers and field teams on a day-to-day basis. Be a point of contact for the client and engineering teams, suppliers and field teams. Including acting as the client representative to all external project team members. Requirements: A bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology or similar field. Min 5 years of relevant project management and/or engineering experience. A Professional Engineer designation (P.Eng.) or EIT or equivalent Technologist Certification or eligible for any of the above. Preference given to those with food and beverage manufacturing or those in a major manufacturing environment. Effective leadership of a project team with effective communication (verbal and written) with internal and external stakeholders. Able to work flexible hours and multi-task in a fast paced, dynamic, high-pressured environment – managing changing priorities and tight deadlines. Proven proficiency with design and project software such as AutoCAD, MS Project and Office programs. Understanding of analytics such as process plant data trending / data analysis tools. Est. 15-25% work related travel, mainly within Canada. Must be eligible to work in Canada and possess a valid driver license. Eligible to travel the USA and Europe.
