We are seeking a dynamic and passionate Manager, Social Media Marketing to engage with and grow our online community while representing our brand in a way that builds trust and loyalty. Job Summary: The Manager, Social Media Marketing will be the voice of the Toronto Tempo across all social and digital platforms, developing a strong online community by nurturing relationships with fans and responding to their needs in real-time. Working closely with the Manager, Content Marketing and external agencies, this role is responsible for the day-to-day management of our social channels, driving brand engagement, and helping to amplify our team’s values and tone. A key component of this role will include traveling with the team to basketball games and events to capture authentic, real-time content that showcases the excitement and culture of the Toronto Tempo. This role will focus on building meaningful conversations and a culture of brand love amongst our online fans, ensuring the Toronto Tempo’s online presence reflects the unique spirit of our franchise. Job Duties and Responsibilities: Social Media Management & Engagement Manage the Toronto Tempo’s social media platforms (Instagram, X, Facebook, TikTok, etc.), creating a compelling and cohesive presence across each channel. Develop and execute community engagement strategies, ensuring ongoing interaction with followers, responding to comments and messages, and fostering a sense of connection. Build and maintain a loyal, engaged online community by encouraging conversations, celebrating fans, and engaging in relevant cultural and basketball trends. Monitor social conversations, identify opportunities for engagement, and represent the brand in an authentic, approachable voice. Track trending topics and cultural moments, ensuring the team capitalizes on timely opportunities in a way that aligns with the brand’s tone and messaging. Content Creation & Collaboration Collaborate with the Manager, Content Marketing and creative agency teams to plan and produce engaging social media content that resonates with fans and elevates the brand. Ensure content aligns with the Toronto Tempo’s unique brand tone and values while remaining culturally relevant. Where required, assist in producing organic social media content (including posts, stories, reels, etc.) to drive fan engagement, brand awareness, and community growth. Travel with the team to basketball games, both home and away, to capture in-the-moment content that highlights game-day excitement, player experiences, and behind-the-scenes action. Support content creation across owned channels, including behind-the-scenes posts, player features, and game-day promotions. Brand Voice & Tone Act as the guardian of the Toronto Tempo’s brand voice and personality on social media, ensuring consistent messaging that aligns with the team’s values and resonates with fans. Represent the team authentically, both in your interactions with fans and in your content creation, ensuring that every touchpoint feels like a true reflection of the brand. Work closely with the Manager, Content Marketing to ensure cohesive messaging across all proactive and reactive digital and marketing efforts. Analytics & Performance Monitoring Working with the Manager, Content Marketing, provide critical thinking and analysis around qualitative and quantitative performance of social media campaigns, community growth, and engagement metrics. Utilize social media insights and community feedback to optimize content and improve engagement strategies. Provide regular feedback on content performance, identifying trends, successes, and areas for improvement based on fan engagement. Track audience sentiment and adapt social strategies based on evolving fan preferences and behaviors. Collaborations & Partnerships Partner with the Marketing and Partnerships teams to amplify co-branded content, and support community-driven campaigns with sponsors and influencers. Build relationships with key influencers, community leaders, and fan groups to grow and engage the Toronto Tempo’s online community. Ensure smooth collaboration with external agencies and partners to execute social media campaigns and community engagement initiatives effectively. Qualifications/Requirements: Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Marketing, Communications, or a related field (or equivalent experience). 3 years of experience in social media management, community engagement, or digital marketing, ideally in sports or entertainment. Passion for the game and a strong understanding of the WNBA and broader basketball culture. Proven ability to create and curate engaging content on social media platforms, with a keen sense of what resonates with a community of fans. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to adapt tone and messaging for different audiences and platforms. Experience in using social media management tools (e.g., Sprout Social, Hootsuite) and analytics platforms (e.g., Google Analytics, Meta Business Insights). A deep understanding of cultural trends and how to authentically tap into them to create community buzz. Willingness to travel with the team to capture live, in-the-moment content during games, both at home and on the road. Highly organized, proactive, and able to manage multiple projects at once in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
