THE OPPORTUNITY We have an exciting opportunity for a Human Resource Generalist to join the Alberta Boilers Safety Association (ABSA). In this role, you will support a dedicated team of leaders who are committed to ABSA’s vision and its impact on Alberta’s industrial landscape. ABSA’s HR department is focused on delivering high-quality programs, fostering a positive work environment, and building long-term employment relationships. THE ORGANIZATION The Alberta Boilers Safety Association (ABSA) was founded in 1994 with the purpose of ensuring the safe design, construction, operation, and maintenance of boilers, pressure vessels, and refrigeration systems across Alberta. As a key regulatory body in the province, ABSA plays a critical role in protecting public safety by enforcing the Alberta Safety Codes Act and its associated regulations. Over the years, ABSA has grown into a trusted authority, recognized for its comprehensive approach to industrial safety and its commitment to upholding the highest standards of pressure equipment operation. At the heart of ABSA’s work is the responsibility to certify and inspect boilers, pressure vessels, and other pressure equipment used in industries across Alberta. For more information, please visit their website: www.absa.ca RESPONSIBILITIES Ensuring compliance with internal HR policies and procedures. Planning and conducting new employee onboarding, training, and orientations. Planning and coordinating recruitment activities such as job postings, applicant screening, and scheduling interviews. Maintaining employee files and records. Assisting with HR improvement projects and policy/procedure revisions. Providing support to payroll and benefits administration. Overseeing the administration of the employee service awards program. QUALIFICATIONS Post secondary degree, diploma, or certificate in Human Resources or a related field of study. A minimum of 2 years prior Human Resources administration experience. Prior experience with ADP Workforce Now or similar Human Resources Information Systems. Familiarity with Quality Management Systems such as ISO 9001. KEY COMPETENCIES Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong understanding of Alberta employment regulations (standards, privacy, human rights, etc.). Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
