Head of Marketing – SharpStakes Location: Remote/ Toronto Based Employment Type: Full-time About SharpStakes SharpStakes is a fast-growing consumer tech startup revolutionizing the sports betting industry. Our app helps users find and research the best bets with cutting-edge analytics, personalized recommendations, and real-time insights. We’re disrupting the betting landscape by empowering users with data-driven decision-making tools that take the guesswork out of sports wagering. As we scale rapidly, we’re seeking an exceptional marketing leader to accelerate our growth and establish SharpStakes as the go-to platform for informed betting. The Role We’re looking for a strategic and hands-on Head of Marketing to own our entire marketing function. The ideal candidate will be a growth-oriented leader who understands the nuances of Gen Z engagement, has scaled consumer betting/gaming apps, and can build high-performing marketing teams. This role reports directly to the CEO and serves as a key member of our leadership team. Responsibilities Develop and execute a comprehensive marketing strategy aligned with our user acquisition and retention goals Build, lead, and mentor a high-caliber marketing team across brand, content, social, growth, and performance marketing Own the marketing budget and ROI metrics, making data-driven decisions to optimize spend Craft compelling brand narratives that authentically connect with betting enthusiasts, particularly younger demographics Pioneer innovative marketing approaches across emerging platforms and channels where our target users spend time Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Data Science, and Customer Experience teams Establish and scale our influencer marketing program with sports and betting creators who resonate with our target audience Navigate the complex regulatory environment of sports betting marketing with compliance-focused creativity Drive user acquisition and retention through strategic campaigns and initiatives that highlight our unique value proposition Requirements 2 years of progressive marketing experience, with at least 2 years in leadership roles at consumer apps/platforms Proven track record scaling consumer apps from early stage to significant market presence Experience in sports, gaming, fintech, or betting industries strongly preferred Deep understanding of Gen Z preferences, behaviors, and consumption patterns around sports and betting Exceptional ability to develop authentic marketing campaigns that drive measurable user growth Experience building and leading high-performing marketing teams Strong analytical skills with experience optimizing marketing ROI across channels Track record of successful partnerships with sports influencers and content creators Experience with rapid experimentation and agile marketing methodologies Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred The Ideal Candidate Has led marketing at 1-2 successful consumer apps in adjacent spaces (sports, gaming, betting, fintech) Demonstrates a combination of creative vision and analytical rigor Understands the unique challenges and opportunities in marketing betting-related products Moves seamlessly between high-level strategy and tactical execution Remains current on emerging platforms, sports trends, and regulatory developments Possesses both the vision to develop breakthrough campaigns and the operational excellence to execute flawlessly Thrives in fast-paced environments and embraces ambiguity What We Offer Competitive salary and equity package Flexible PTO policy Home office stipend and wellness allowance Quarterly team offsites Sports event tickets and experiences Opportunity to shape the future of a high-growth startup in an exciting industry A collaborative, dynamic, and innovative work environment SharpStakes is an equal opportunity employer committed to building a diverse team.
