Position Summary : Reporting to the Director, Publications, the Editor stewards resources through the production process (from writer handover to publication) for digital and print math resources. Working with writers, graphic designers, and other editors, the Editor ensures resources are published on time and consistently conforming to high editorial standards. This is a full-time role (37.5 hours/week). We are looking for 2 candidates who will work in a short-term contract role for up to 6 months. Location of Work: This role is mainly remote, but you may be required occasionally to attend in person meetings at the JUMP Math office or attend programs on site within the GTA. Key Accountabilities: Print Resources Create departmental style guides for new print resources and respond to queries about house style Copyedit and proofread manuscript in Word, Excel and Acrobat Liaise between writers and graphic designers during production process Proof passes for fidelity to previous passes Check printer-proofs Implement updates to JUMP Math website Digital Resources Create departmental style guides for new digital resources and respond to queries about house style Liaise between writers and graphic designers during production process Liaise with stakeholders during and post-production Copyedit and proofread content on digital platforms including Learning Management Systems/Content Management Systems Check assets for fidelity to writer specifications Participate in the post-publication process Implement updates to LMS Administration Train new editorial staff (in-house and contractors) Identify opportunities for efficiency during production process Maintain correction logs and implement as needed Act for the Senior Editor as needed Skills: Excellent editorial skills Excellent communication, especially written Strong interpersonal skills Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills Proficiency with Word, Excel, and Acrobat Familiarity with Content Management Systems and Learning Management Systems platform is an asset Knowledge and use of standard editing/proofreading mark-up Proven ability to consistently meet deadlines Personal Attributes: Keen eye for detail Team player Diplomatic and patient Ability to focus on a task for long periods Proactive problem-solver Strong memory Calm under pressure Flexible/adaptable Education and Experience (minimums): A minimum 3 years of Editorial work experience, including copy-editing and proofreading (preferably educational, ideally in math) Post-secondary Diploma of college studies with vocational training (three-year program) or equivalent work experience Publishing degree/diploma or Editing training preferred French is an asset
