About the Role The Instrumentation & Control Engineer will be a key member of the Operational Excellence team, responsible for monitoring the performance of various control systems and ensuring proper operations. They will support in-house operations staff on control and instrumentation troubleshooting, and provide assistance to the Engineering and Project Management teams in project development, commissioning and integration. The Instrumentation & Control Engineer will demonstrate a strong ability to learn and understand process controls, hydraulic, electrical and mechanical systems. Duties & Responsibilities New Projects: Evaluate and provide feedback on control and instrumentation design Integrate and commission new infrastructures to the live operating systems Distribution: Manage across the network all Data Acquisition Units (DAU) for remote monitoring and control purposes Conduct instrumentation integration, calibration and verification Troubleshoot onsite any network issues with the communication service providers and building operators Troubleshoot onsite energy metering issues at customer sites Certify hot water and chilled water billable meters following the Measurement Canada standards Plants: Manage inventory of critical control spare parts for both plants and distribution system Ensure proper operations in the power generation control systems at all Enwave sites Standardize control system interfaces among all facilities Support the annual electrical protection and control relay maintenances System Ops: Ensure proper operations in all remote control systems and iFix real time monitoring system Monitor customer consumption data and flag and troubleshoot proactively for instrumentation checks before month-ends Migrate and integrate various control systems into a new digitalized platform Leverage available tools from various control systems to develop KPI metrics for management reporting General: Negotiate and manage control system service contracts Coordinate control system firmware upgrade Complete detailed analysis with recommendations in all technical control instrumentation troubleshooting and investigations Relationships (Internal/External Stakeholders) Manage vendor, service/equipment providers relationship such as (Siemens, Johnson Controls, Automated Logic, etc.). Communicate with customers and utility providers for any metering issues. Work closely with the internal IT/OT team for any network upgrades and common systems. Work with the Solution and innovation (S&I) and Development teams for all instrumentation design and new system integrations. Communicate with consultants, and delivery partners to ensure operational requirements are met and integration plans are in place. Desired Knowledge, Skills & Experience The successful candidate should come with a strong control instrumentation engineering background with 4-6 years of experience. Bachelor’s degree in control systems engineering, process engineering, electrical engineering, or advanced Control Systems (PLC) Technician with extensive experience in HVAC controls programming and design. Strong understanding of Electrical & Instrumentation and/or Mechanical discipline, and demonstrate a good understanding of control systems. Must demonstrate ability to learn multiple control systems. Familiarity with high voltage equipment. Experience in Siemens, Automatic Logic, Johnson, Delta V, ESC, Gray Matters iFix systems in utility generating facilities will be considered an asset. Experience in distributed control system, PLC data, SCADA and P&ID control logics. Fluent in various network systems, such as BACNET, Modbus, Profinet, Profibus. Strong English communication skills (written and verbal). Proficient computer skills with MS Word, Excel and Database. Organized and detail oriented. Ability to multi-task with a desire to learn. Demonstrate strong troubleshooting and supervision capability. Must be able to respond and prioritize to meet tight deadlines during regular and peak periods and to last minute demands and requirements.
