This is an existing vacancy. Essential Functions/ Responsibilities As a BI Data Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in empowering cross-functional teams to make informed, data-driven decisions. Collaborating closely with Finance, Account Management, and Sales, you’ll enable these teams to access high-quality insights and generate accurate reports. Your responsibilities will include: Driving Impact : Using your strong communication skills to convey analytical results in a way that inspires action and drives meaningful business change. Championing Data Excellence : Advocating for data as a first-class citizen by ensuring data quality, reliability, and usability across the organization. Collaboration and Peer Review : Providing constructive peer reviews and fostering a culture of continuous improvement in data deliverables. Educating Stakeholders : Helping teams understand and leverage data effectively through hands-on training sessions and creating thorough, user-friendly documentation. Proactive Problem-Solving : Independently identifying and proposing impactful data projects instead of solely responding to stakeholder requests. Staying Ahead of the Curve : Keeping abreast of advancements in the data and analytics community, evaluating new tools and methodologies, and integrating them into your workflow when appropriate. Education and Experience BS/MS in Computer Science, or equivalent. Experience with cloud-based data warehousing, transformation, and ETL tools, such as Snowflake and DBT: Snowflake : Develop, manage, and optimize Snowflake data pipelines to ensure reliable data ingestion and transformation processes. Design and maintain Snowflake schemas, tables, and views with a focus on performance optimization and storage efficiency. Implement Snowflake features such as data sharing, secure views, and time travel to support business requirements. Monitor and troubleshoot performance issues within Snowflake, leveraging techniques like clustering, query tuning, and workload management. DBT : Build and maintain modular, well-structured dbt models that align with industry best practices and internal standards. Develop robust testing frameworks using dbt to ensure the accuracy and reliability of data transformations. Create reusable macros and custom packages to improve efficiency and standardization across dbt projects. Maintain version control for dbt projects, managing changes systematically with tools like Git. Understanding of time series and relational databases (Oracle, Snowflake, InfluxDB). Oracle, MongoDB (or noSQL generally) : Be able to read and understand Oracle PL/SQL procedures and functions. Analyze unstructured and semi-structured data from NoSQL databases. Tableau Dashboards : Design and deliver user-friendly dashboards and visualizations in Tableau, ensuring they align with stakeholder needs and provide actionable insights. Data Governance : Implement and uphold best practices in data quality, security, and governance across all platforms.
