As a boutique digital marketing agency with a focus on performance marketing, eCommerce, and scalable paid media strategies, the team delivers results-driven campaigns for ambitious brands. Their deep expertise in Shopify Plus allows them to offer tailored services including strategy, UX/UI design, development, headless commerce, migration, international expansion, data analytics, conversion optimization, and custom app development. With a growing team of creatives, strategists, and digital experts, the agency is looking for a seasoned operational leader to help scale smarter, faster, and stronger. Role Overview The Director of Agency Operations will oversee all internal operations, aligning people, processes, and performance to deliver top-tier work on time and within budget. This role requires an exceptional leader who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment, brings structure to chaos, and inspires cross-functional teams. You’ll report directly to the CEO and manage a tight-knit team of 6–7 tenured professionals. You’ll ensure team performance and project delivery across all client accounts, while continuously improving internal systems, workflows, and agency culture. Key Responsibilities Lead day-to-day agency operations, acting as the CEO’s right hand. Manage and support a team of 6–7 experienced individuals across departments. Oversee project resourcing, timelines, and performance across all client accounts. Implement and optimize tools, workflows, and processes for delivery, reporting, QA, and communication. Drive a culture of accountability, ownership, and high performance. Conduct 1:1s, performance reviews, and department check-ins. Provide mentorship to department leads across creative, media, strategy, and client services. Act as a senior point of contact for select clients, ensuring team alignment and project success. Anticipate operational challenges and proactively resolve issues before escalation. Collaborate with leadership on hiring, onboarding, and team development strategies. Champion agency values and contribute to team morale and continuous improvement. What We’re Looking For 8 years in agency operations or leadership roles within a digital marketing or advertising agency (50 people). Proven track record of managing high-performing, cross-functional teams. Deep understanding of agency workflows, creative/media processes, and digital marketing execution. Outstanding leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Tech-savvy with tools like Asana, ClickUp, Trello, Slack, Notion, and performance dashboards. Calm, solution-oriented under pressure, with strong client-facing skills. Must-Haves Demonstrated success as a builder and leader in a boutique agency environment. Experience leading tenured individuals in remote settings. High accountability, with the ability to manage agency operations autonomously. Deep operational knowledge—able to improve structure and deliver results from day one. Long-term commitment to growing and evolving with the agency. Nice-to-Haves Experience scaling a boutique or mid-size agency. Background in eCommerce. Experience working with Shopify merchants. Why Join?
