We’re currently seeking a skilled and experienced SECURITY ARCHITECT to support our client, the Ministry of SaskBuilds and Procurement, within the Cyber Security and Risk Management Branch. This position plays a vital role in shaping and protecting the Government of Saskatchewan’s digital infrastructure through robust security architecture, modern risk management practices, and continuous improvement of enterprise security posture. The successful candidate will operate in a highly dynamic, regulatory-focused environment, collaborating closely with solution architects, IT operations, and compliance functions. This role is central to embedding security into the core of government services and ensuring the province’s systems remain resilient, modern, and secure. LOCATION & WORK HOURS: Location: Onsite in Regina, Saskatchewan (preferred), with limited flexibility for occasional remote work Work Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (CST), with flexibility for after-hours support when required THE ROLE – Security Architect A seasoned and strategic Security Architect to join the Cyber Security and Risk Management Branch within the Ministry of SaskBuilds and Procurement. This individual will be responsible for designing and advising on secure IT solutions across cloud, endpoint, network, and application environments. The role involves embedding security principles into architecture and infrastructure decision-making, as well as aligning provincial systems with ISO 27001 and other relevant frameworks. REQUIREMENTS: Mandatory Education/Certifications: CISSP, CISM, or equivalent accredited security certification TOGAF, CCSP, or GIAC (preferred) Mandatory Experience: Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in IT security, with at least 5 in a senior security architecture role Proven expertise in designing and advising on enterprise security solutions across cloud, application, and infrastructure layers Strong knowledge of security architecture frameworks, information security standards (e.g., ISO 27001), and defense-in-depth strategies Desired Experience: Formal education in computer science, information security, or a related field Experience working in a government or highly regulated environment Knowledge of threat modeling, risk assessment, and secure SDLC practices Familiarity with cloud security best practices (Azure/AWS), Zero Trust models, and regulatory compliance requirements Key Attributes: Highly self-motivated and professionally accountable Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex security concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences Excellent organizational and multitasking skills Strong collaborator with consultative problem-solving abilities DELIVERABLES: Architecture Oversight & Governance Participate in enterprise design reviews to ensure security compliance with provincial policies and architecture standards Partner with solution architects and vendors to guide the secure integration of cloud, endpoint, application, and network solutions Security Risk Analysis & Advisory Analyze existing environments to detect security gaps and recommend improvements to posture, process, and tooling Provide ongoing security advisory to technology stakeholders and executive leadership Security Integration & Roadmap Alignment Guide the adoption of security practices in new solutions and help evaluate new technologies for risk and compliance impact Contribute to enterprise roadmaps by aligning evolving business needs with modern security architecture trends Security Framework & Documentation Support the classification and protection of government data and ensure compliance with regulatory and legislative standards Produce clear documentation of architecture decisions, risk assessments, and security patterns Operational & Incident Response Support Provide expert-level guidance to support vulnerability remediation, risk mitigation, and incident response Collaborate with risk, compliance, and security operations teams to continuously improve defense strategies ABOUT THE ROLE: This is a 54-month contract position , commencing June 2, 202 5, located onsite in Regina, Saskatchewan.
