Description
We are seeking an Electrical Engineering Manager for a well established high tech manufacturing client of ours in the Victoria area. This role will report to the Director of Engineering and will play a key role in automating production processes to improve production efficiencies and product quality. Relocation package available for qualified out of province candidates. Responsibilities -Leading the electrical engineering team in the development of new detector modules; working through new product introduction (NPI) processes and documentation. -Developing, planning & executing on staff training/development needs, hiring plans, and technical resource requirements. -Collaboration with customers/OEMs to clarify requirements and specifications. -Managing the core PCB implementation and delivery, including fit to mechanical constraints (physical, thermal), the BOM (bill of materials), debugging, validation, and finally manufacturing. -Integration and debugging of detector module electronics, including FPGA logic, low noise mixed-signal custom ASICs, 10Gb/s serial links and embedded software. -Contributing to product improvement initiatives including reducing BOM and test costs, enhancing yield, increasing test coverage and improving reliability. -Proactive identification of technologies that put the company in a leadership position to fulfill next generation application requirements and customer needs. Qualifications -Bachelor of Applied Science in Electrical Engineering, or Master’s of Electrical Engineering degree (preferred) -Minimum of 2 years’ experience leading technical teams in a NPI environment. -Minimum of 7 years’ experience designing complex electronics for industrial or medical applications. -Proficiency with Altium or similar PCB design environment for schematics and layout. -Strong familiarity in the following areas: -Low noise power distribution. -Component selection including FPGA devices, memories, and power supplies. -High speed board design for signal integrity. -FPGA design and simulation, Verilog or VHDL. -Precision analog design and simulation. -Managing the procurement and delivery of populated PCB assemblies. -Debugging of electronic system hardware and embedded controllers. -Strong verbal and written communication skills and demonstrated ability to communicate technical concepts and requirements clearly. -Ability to thrive in an environment of ambiguity and uncertainty and able to rapidly understand new technologies and incorporate on-the-fly change of plans. -Strong attention to detail. -Hands-on approach to problem solving and desire to spend time on the production floor. -Exhibit a bias toward action, balanced by strong analytical decision-making skills. -Must possess excellent oral and written communications skills in English. -Must have good interpersonal skills and be able to work in a team environment.
