Your New Role The firm is currently seeking an experienced Legal Assistant to join their dynamic team. The successful candidate will possess superior multitasking abilities and the capacity to manage a heavy workload efficiently. This role requires experience in a litigation environment, along with strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. The ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding of the Rules of Civil Procedure and demonstrate excellent attention to detail. Key Responsibilities: Preparing legal documents such as Affidavit of Documents, Trial Records, Notice of Examinations, Discovery Plans, Affidavit of Service, and Motion Confirmations. Drafting and sending correspondence to clients, medical professionals, business offices, insurance companies, and defense counsel. Coordinating with process servers for the service and filing of court materials. Liaising with court offices regarding motions, pre-trials, and trial bookings. Acting as a liaison between lawyers and various internal and external parties on the status and progression of each file. Scheduling and maintaining lawyers’ calendars for Examinations for Discovery, Mediations, meetings, settlement calls, etc. Requesting and fulfilling undertakings. Managing invoices, maintaining accounting records, and preparing accounts. Communicating professionally with clients and colleagues, exercising judgment, and working independently to resolve administrative issues. Demonstrating confidence, dependability, and strong initiative in a team-oriented atmosphere. What You’ll Need to Succeed Diploma or Certificate in Legal Administration or equivalent. 3 or more years of legal support experience in Personal Injury (Tort) in Ontario. Prior experience and knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedure, court practices, and procedures. Proficiency in Word, Outlook, PC Law, and Filevine. Excellent grammar skills and attention to detail. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively interact with clients and all firm members.
